Jackson Ward History Day! PL Report Back with Jessica Wang
June 6, 2014
Community members of the neighborhood came out to Abner Clay Park for Jackson Ward History Day to participate in community-focused activities. Among the activities, was a workshop run by the organizers and interns of the People’s Library. We had a table set up with informational material, authored books, and blank books, as well as an activity for people to illustrate a map of how they saw their community.
It was great seeing the interest people had in The People's Library at Jackson Ward Day. There were quite a few people who came to the event, because they heard about the project and wanted to get involved. Many who hadn't heard of the project were curious to learn more and ended up checking out books to author from the library’s portable system. Overall, it was really great to see members of the community come together to relax and enjoy the day.
